How the weekly card works
The card changes at the start of each week. It isn't random: the week number is matched against the list of experiences, so everyone who opens this page in the same week gets the same card. There are 12 experiences written up in full right now, which means the card cycles through all of them roughly every three months.
You can't ask for a different one, and that's deliberate. The reason most people never try the thing they've been meaning to try isn't cost or difficulty â it's that choosing takes longer than doing. One card, no choosing, one week to do it.
What the five scores mean
Every challenge is scored 1â5 on four dimensions, plus one yes/no:
- Enjoyment â did you actually have fun, or did you just like having done it?
- Engagement â were you pulled in, or checking your phone?
- Achievement â did you walk away with something: a mug, a mile, a story?
- Ease â how hard was it to start, and to keep going?
- Would you do it again â yes, maybe, no.
The last one is the question most lists never ask. A thing can be fun once and still belong in the "glad I did it, never again" pile â abseiling scored 4.0 here and the answer was maybe. That's the kind of thing a single star rating can't tell you. How the scores are kept honest is on the about page.
How to read your map
The map plots every card you've scored. Side to side is how easy it was, top to bottom is how much you enjoyed it, and the size of each dot is how much you got out of it. Four corners, four readings:
- Easy and fun â comfort. Fine in small doses, easy to never leave.
- Hard and fun â the corner worth paying for. Most of the twelve started here for someone.
- Easy and not fun â filler. Passed the time, gave you nothing.
- Hard and not fun â the ones to stop repeating, and the most useful dots to have on the map.

Questions
Do I have to do the card I'm given?
No one checks. But the card is the whole point â if you swap it for something easier, the map just records that you did what you already would have done. The next card comes at the start of next week either way.
Is the card the same for everyone?
Yes, within the same week. It's derived from the week number rather than drawn at random, so two people comparing notes in the same week are comparing the same challenge.
What if I've already done this week's challenge?
Score it anyway â you're scoring the experience, not your first attempt at it. If you want a different one this week, the full set is on all new experiences.
